My 1st album released on Jamendo :)
“Jamendo is a community of free, legal and unlimited music published under Creative Commons licenses. Share your music, download your favorite artists!”
A long time ago I just really felt I could share the music I make.Even before that one happened, I was experimenting with sounds and I was trying to play music that possibly exceeded my skills in order to become even better. Playing the piano or the guitar (the electric guitar actually) was sometimes the time to relax or to express various emotions.
So, the truth is that I wanted this whole project to be completed only with open source tools. And that’s what happened. For this project I used Fedora 10, JACK, Qsynth and Ardour. There are even more tools I can use like Zynaddsubfx (extremely cool app) etc. Thanks CCRMA !
I know you may find the sound quality a bit disappointing but this is due to the insufficient amount of time I spent to set up the apps. Also, consider that every time I had to record I had to improvise (or remember the notes) because there was no music sheet.

Do you think you could find the time to write up an optimized application setup/configuration from your perspective?
Now that you’ve made the effort, is this the kind of thing that can be turned into a live image Fedora remix that can be shared and optimized by a community of your technical savvy musical peers? Is there a place, the need, and the community to make a dedicated Jamendo recording studio remix a viable piece of technology?

Thanks everybody! I’m glad you liked it.
@jspaleta : For my set up I simply followed some tutorials. I ‘ll post how I did it later on.
I guess a Fedora remix with the CCRMA packages and a low-latency-patched kernel could do the trick. Of course this needs to be proved. Also, this remix could combine packages for other real-time apps like real-time video capture and processing. But this is beyond the research I made on the technical part.
I think an open source studio solution on a Fedora remix would be great and that a lot of people would support it. Unfortunately, programs like Reason, the FL studio, the VST plug-ins etc are really tempting because of their high quality results. But as it has been proved by other open source projects, this can be overcome.
